Pursuant to Section 22 of the Forest and Rural Fires Act
1977, the Far North District Council declares that effective
from midnight Friday, 10 December 2010:
A RESTRICTED FIRE SEASON IS IN FORCE IN ALL AREAS
ADMINISTERED BY THE FAR NORTH DISTRICT COUNCIL
Permits are required for all fires in the open air.
Permit applications can be made from any Far North District Council
Service Centre during normal working hours. Applications should
allow for up to 48 hours for an inspection to be made if necessary for
all areas other than those situated east of Okiato Point which will be
inspected on a weekly basis.
The above restrictions do not apply to gas barbeques.

BROADWAY HEALTH CHARITABLE TRUST
The Broadway Health Charitable Trust has three scholarships
available annually. The Scholarship is designed to support
students to gain qualifications in the Health Professions and
to return to work in the Far North, especially Kaikohe.
Each scholarship is worth up to $5,000.00 per annum over a
maximum of 4 years.

towards a shared
HOBSON ROAD PARKING LIMITATIONS
At the Council meeting held on the 30th September 2010, Council
made the following resolution
"That the report "Hobson Road Parking - Proposed Time Limit
Parking" be received;
And that Council resolve to install 120 minute parking restrictions
on Hobson Road between the entrance to Firestone and access to
the Post Shop loading bay and remove one 10 minute parking space
outside the Post Shop.
And that These new restrictions be publicly notified as provided for
within the Council's Parking and Traffic Control Bylaw."
Signage has since been installed and these new limitations are in place.

WATER RESTRICTIONS --
KAITAIA, OPONONI AND RAWENE
Due to drought conditions, low river flows and a heavy demand on
water resources, a ban has been placed on the use of Council water
at Kaitaia, Opononi and Rawene for the following purposes:-
• Hand held hosepipes, sprinklers and irrigation systems
(excluding commercial operations)
• Filling of swimming pools
• Commercial auto vehicle washers with no recycling
High water users must implement water conservation measures to
achieve a 10% reduction of normal use.
This notice applies to the area serviced by the Kaitaia, Opononi and
Rawene water supply schemes.
The ban is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.
The council urges all residents to conserve water to ensure that water
supplies for essential household purposes can be maintained.
This Notice is issued pursuant to clause 710 of the Far North District
Council General Bylaw, Chapter 7 - Water Supply.
