• Exclusive occupation and use of the coastal marine area by an existing
ferry ramp at Okiato; and

form (Form 13). Copies of this form are available from any of the Northland Regional Council's offices. Please

applicant (at the address for service stated above) as soon as reasonably practicable after serving your

Putting Northland first
REGIONAL TRANSPORT COMMITTEE
APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT
AS A REPRESENTATIVE
Are you interested in promoting one of the five objectives on Northland's Regional Transport Committee;
environmental sustainability; economic development; safety and personal security; public health or
access and mobility? Or are you interested in being the sixth appointee to represent cultural interests?
The Northland Regional Council is looking for enthusiastic, skilled and committed people to be
representatives on its Regional Transport Committee. The responsibilities of the Northland Regional
Transport Committee include providing guidance on transport outcomes for the region through the
Regional Land Transport Strategy and co-ordinating funding of the region's transport needs through the
Regional Land Transport Programme.
The outcomes for each of the objectives which help guide the Transport Committee are:
Ensuring environmental sustainability
Reducing the use of non-renewable resources and their replacement with renewable sources.
Reducing impacts on human and natural environments.
Assisting economic development
Growth and development are increasingly integrated with transport.
Transport users increasingly understand and meet the costs they create.
Improving transports international and domestic linkages including inter-modal transfers.
Maintain or improve the effectiveness of the transport system.
The efficiency of the transport system is continuing to improve.
Reducing the negative impacts of land-use developments on the transport system.
Assisting safety and personal security
New Zealand's transport system is increasingly safe and secure.
Improving the ability to recover quickly and effectively from adverse events.
Improving access and mobility
Providing affordable and reliable community access.
Protecting and promoting public health
Reducing fatalities, injuries and harm to health.
The Transport Committee must include a sixth appointee to represent cultural interests.
Applications are being invited for individuals to represent each of the objectives identified above on the
Regional Transport Committee. Candidates would ideally be a resident of the region, be familiar with
committees and committee procedures and be able to represent their objective interest knowledgeably
in discussions. The Committee meets on a bi-monthly basis.
