candidate the opportunity to perform their song live!
• All the money that we make will go into the charitable trust's
account, which will be used for scholarships for our candidates
towards their studies.
If you live in the Hokianga and you will be
15 or 16 years old in 2011, this is for you!!
We are looking for 11 candidates to record
a song written just for them!

Kohukohu Town Hall Friday 14/01/2011 at 9am
Rawene Town Hall Saturday 15/01/2011 at 9am

Dogs take lead in race
Westpac bank manager Dale Felton
and Pear Tree owner Neil Brazier are
organising a community dog race -- a
swim across the Kerikeri inlet on
The race will start from the pontoon
in front of the Pear Tree and finish on
the grassy verge on the other side of
Owners will kayak, row, paddle or
swim in front of their dogs to coax
them across the river with the dogs
There will be a separate race for
small and large dogs with a $125
Westpac Visa Debit Plus account as a
prize for each.
The SPCA will be on hand at the
finish to judge the winners as dogs and
their owners arrive on the other side.
The event starts at Pear Tree at
4pm on January 30 with a best dressed
dog and best owner/dog lookalike com-
Chronicle editor Keri Molloy will be
the judge and winners will receive a
$50 meal voucher. The races will fol-
low at about 5pm.
Each of the competitions carries an
entry fee of a can of dog food with
proceeds going to the Kerikeri SPCA.
Entries can be submitted at Westpac
Kerikeri where entry forms and race
rules will be on hand.
